The wedding will take place at Schloss Traunsee, a beautiful lakeside castle in Gmunden, Austria, nestled between majestic mountains and overlooking the serene waters of Lake Traunsee. We chose this special location because we love spending our weekends here.

How to get there?

By train:

From Vienna Airport: take a high-speed train to Attnang-Puchheim (approx. 2h 25m). From there, it’s another 15-minute train ride to Gmunden.

From Salzburg Airport: travel by bus and train (approx. 1h 45m).

From Munich Airport: take a train (approx. 4h 45m).

From Salzburg Airport: approximately 1 hour.

From Vienna Airport: approximately 2 hours 40 minutes.

From Munich Airport: approximately 2 hours 40 minutes.

We’ll dance, laugh, and celebrate late into the night (or morning!).

Activities in the area - What else to do?

Conquer Traunstein mountain

After hiking up Traunstein Mountain in 2024, Ieva said, “I’ll only go on a hike like this again… after we get married!”. Symbolically, this iconic mountain is visible from the wedding venue. Although the hike is challenging, it is incredibly rewarding, offering breathtaking views - you can find the full tour here. If you prefer something less demanding, there are lovely walks at the foot of the mountain, such as the Miesweg.

Swim in one of the many lakes

In this picture, you can see Attersee, known for its stunning water color. Enjoy a refreshing swim, or rent a stand-up paddleboard to explore the lake.The area is also home to other beautiful lakes, including Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, Fuschlsee, Hallstätter See and Altausseer See.

Visit the Salzkammergut area

The Salzkammergut, where the wedding venue is located, is perfect for road trips to historic and scenic towns such as the UNESCO World Heritage site Hallstatt, St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen, and Bad Ischl.

Take a ride on Schafberg by train

Take a scenic ride on the SchafbergBahn, a historic cogwheel train that climbs to the top of Schafberg Mountain. Enjoy stunning views over lakes and the Alps - a perfect half-day trip from nearby St. Wolfgang.

Explore Grünberg mountain

Take the Grünberg cable car for beautiful views over Gmunden, or hike through peaceful forest trails to the alpine Laudachsee lake. A relaxing nature escape, just minutes from town.

Reach Schoberstein and Mahdlgupf

Enjoy a scenic hike above Lake Attersee on the Schoberstein and Mahdlgupf trails. These routes offer beautiful views and a bit of a workout - perfect for nature lovers looking for a half-day adventure.
For everyone experienced in climing, there is also the Mahdlgupf Via Ferrata which is an amazing experience.

Visit wildlife park Grünau & Almsee

Visit Wildpark Grünau to meet its adorable wildlife. Afterward, take a leisurely walk around the stunning Almsee, a crystal-clear lake surrounded by picturesque mountains. The area is perfect for enjoying nature, taking photos, or simply relaxing by the water.

Discover the charming Salzburg

Discover Salzburg’s baroque old town, wander through Mozart’s birthplace and take in panoramic views from the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Stroll along the Salzach River and relax in leafy beer gardens after a day of sightseeing.

Reach the top of Feuerkogel
